filthy fridays

I swear to God I'll kill myself if I spend another friday night at home.

Hooyea

I am beginning to repeatedly find myself stagnant at that point in life where nothing is happening. I want something new to get me through this semi-charmed kinda life. Indeed hah. Why would I want tomorrow to come when there's nothing really to look forward to? Hm.

Splitting headache.Yowch.

Fooey.

When the folks are away

We turn up the heat and put a pan on it. We turned the kitchen upside down. Yes, the one that is usually kept spick and span by the boyfriend's mother. No we didn't really turn it upside down, just cooked almost every meal heehehehehehhehee. Yes we cleaned up after cooking, like the responsible adults that we are. Long story short, the boyfriend's parents went away for a week, so we wreaked culinary havoc.

Onion omelette with ham and cheese

and then we made mushroom monsters, like those that cost $5.90 in NYDC. Topped with ham and melted cheese, glazed with a pinch of minced garlic underneath the ham.

A fancy dinner the next day with an impromptu setup--

Mini-steak marinated with Worchester sauce, with sauteed onions, portabellos glazed with olive oil with a sprinkle of garlic, and carbonara on the side.

and the pseudo-romantic set-up (doesn't look so romantic in the picture but when you dim the lights and play a little Ella on your Mac in the background after drinking a bit of peach-flavoured Chardonnay, anything can be romantic)

We get a bit more ambitious the next day and attempted Pan-seared butter cod, with spinach on the side

didn't turn out all too bad at all (my attempt to arrange the food ala ristorante)

We had a ball of a time last week. :)

Literary meme

I am the girl whose mother didn't want to give up work for and ended up spending the first 7 years of her life with her grandparents until her younger brother came along and her mother decided to quit and wanted her back but who was reluctant to because she had grown to love her gramps so much.

I am the girl who was forced to go home to my parents on weekends when I was young and who ended up crying at 2am and calling her grandpa saying that she wants to go home (her real home that is).

I am the girl who made her mum hate her because of that.

I am the girl who will then wait downstairs for her grandfather to come at 2am to pick her up with her baby pillow which she has had since she was a month old.

I am the girl who still refuses to sleep without that pillow.

I am the girl who loves her gramps more than her parents.

I am the girl who might as well have never known her parents.

I am the girl who was shocked when a boy tried to kiss her in kindergarten and asked him out loud in front of the class Are you trying to kiss me? and made a fool of him without meaning to.

I am the girl who loves eating her prata with sugar-and-curry, who loves eating water egg yolks whole and feeling it burst in her mouth, who eats cubes of cheese with sweet China pears because it's such a refreshing taste.

I am the girl who used to wonder what was the point of everything.

I am the girl who looked at herself in the mirror sometimes and wondered who that person was, who eventually didn't want to look in the mirror anymore.

I am the girl who said many "I love you"s that she didn't mean but who didn't mean to not mean them when she said it.

I am the girl who first held a boy's hand when she was 13 who really only first fell in love when she was 16.

I am the girl who got her heart broken and who never thought she could (or wanted to) love another one again.

I am the girl who will always remember the night when she saw your text on her phone Care to dance? :) and who till now still never regretted saying yes.

I am the girl whom you told your little secrets to on the very first night that we went out, when we were still friends and wondered why you would tell me when I was a complete stranger.

I am the girl who found out later that it was because that was just the way we were going to be and how we still can never wait to tell each other everything.

I am the girl who was thinking This is crazy when you leaned over to kiss me for the first time, and who ended up kissing you back for the next four hours.

I am the girl who rolled in bed with you laughing about the silliest things and ended up crying once because I couldn't believe how happy you make me.

I am the girl whose hand you hold so gingerly as if you're afraid I'd break if you held me too tight.

I am the girl who still kisses you the same way she kissed you the very first time.

I am the girl who wells up at movies and at the thought of having to leave you one day when I die.

I am the girl who would rather you go first so that you don't have to bear with the pain of grief.

I am the girl who would spend all her life travelling and live hand-to-mouth if she had the money and a family who didn't care about education.

I am the girl who think she got a better deal in life than she could have hoped to have.

I am that girl. Who are you?

Kah. Kah? Kah!

Back from BKK. It is HOT. Hotter than Singapore if you can believe it. When I go to sleep in a fan-room, I always think about movies where characters in suburban Italy and Spain (e.g. I'm not scared & Amores Perros are glistening with sweat and it always almost inevitably lead to a sexual scene soon after. Ahem.

Check out the travel section for sporadic posts of Bangkok.

Sawasdee kah!

Off to Bangkok soon. Will be posting under Travel while I'm gone. Singha beer! Glug glug.

Need to get combo PCMCIA cardnote: PCMCIAs cannot powerup externals i.e. you can't use it to charge the Pod. guess i found out too late but at least they promised me a swap., Thai phrasebook for pointing-to-text conversing with locals, a cheap earphone-mike for SkypeOuting back home, and more rolls of film. Sigh. Budget travel my ass.

To do: Download and install Blogjet. Make sure there is ample space on laptop for photos and music. Remember to feel very pissed off about goodfornothing battery I'm not any less pissed off now (when you read laptop manuals and they tell you to remove battery when plugged in to a powerpoint after charging to full, do it. Do not secondguess.) Attempt to forcefully attach small Deuter backpack to big non-Deuter backpack.

What Bangkok2005 is looking like now:

1stday-Find a reasonably decent place to stay for under 400 baht for 2 near Tha Banglumphu (river stop)
2nd - Cross river to Thonburi railway station for trainride to Kanchanaburi
3rd - Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, move residence to Soi Kasemsan near Siam square with free WiFi all day, A/C and hot shower just for 500 baht!
4th - Ayutthaya
5th - Chatuchak (or Jatujak)
6th - Chinatown in search of photo equip, Wat Benjamabophit and surrounding architecture
7th - Go-karting and maybe a visit to the Levi's factory outlet hawhawhaw. I'm gonna have to resort to grass-eating after this.

with various other inserts like visiting the much talked about Food Loft and getting a suit tailored for the boyfriend (around 120SGD and you can model it after any famous labels!!!) and maybe trying to ride a scooter to explore Kanchanaburi, probably not. but might be worth trying. I can't wait to ply the khlongs of Bangkok with you.
