When the folks are away

We turn up the heat and put a pan on it. We turned the kitchen upside down. Yes, the one that is usually kept spick and span by the boyfriend's mother. No we didn't really turn it upside down, just cooked almost every meal heehehehehehhehee. Yes we cleaned up after cooking, like the responsible adults that we are. Long story short, the boyfriend's parents went away for a week, so we wreaked culinary havoc.

Onion omelette with ham and cheese

and then we made mushroom monsters, like those that cost $5.90 in NYDC. Topped with ham and melted cheese, glazed with a pinch of minced garlic underneath the ham.

A fancy dinner the next day with an impromptu setup--

Mini-steak marinated with Worchester sauce, with sauteed onions, portabellos glazed with olive oil with a sprinkle of garlic, and carbonara on the side.

and the pseudo-romantic set-up (doesn't look so romantic in the picture but when you dim the lights and play a little Ella on your Mac in the background after drinking a bit of peach-flavoured Chardonnay, anything can be romantic)

We get a bit more ambitious the next day and attempted Pan-seared butter cod, with spinach on the side

didn't turn out all too bad at all (my attempt to arrange the food ala ristorante)

We had a ball of a time last week. :)
